MLA Appointed to handle Mt. Trashmore

The new Govt. has announced that MLA Mr. Cline Glidden will be given the responsibility to handle Mt. Trashmore. I am anxiously waiting to see what transpires. I wish him all the best and hopefully his young mind will find the resolution to this mountain of mess in our country that is now more like a sore on our behind versus in our eye.

DOE - Dumpster/Grabber Truck Rental Rates

The Dept of Environment rents dumpsters the rates are: - Roll off containers 20 cubic yards = CI$100 per day (weekdays) & CI$152 (weekends) OR Hire the grabber truck: - 20 cubic - CI$100 per load (weekdays) & CI$150 (weekends) - 10 cubic = CI$75 per load (weekdays) & CI$125 (weekends) They require 2 business days notice and it is on a first come first serve basis. The justification for the extra cost for weekends is that you have two days Saturday/Sunday.

Mike Watler Crescent - Northward (Dumping)

The pictures in this blog are from a location in Northward of which residents have complained on many occassions to the Dept. of Environment about the irresponsible owners on this street that keep dumping their yard waste and old vehicles along the side of streets or on vacant land. To date the DOE has NEVER responded to their pleas in writing and via telephone to their customer service dept.
This is simply negligent behaviour by a Govt. dept. in relation to the complaints of residents in this area to go unnoticed or simply ignored is absolutely uncalled for.
This type of dumping is only going to add to the rodent population or to confirm to those persons who dump illegal that it is OKAY to do this in our country.
Will someone at the DOE please do something about this problem.
Thanks to those residents who had simply gotten enough and decided to email this blog who added these pictures after visiting the neighbourhood.

Reuseable Shopping Bags

Starting June 2010 Fosters Food Fair you will have to pay for plastic bags. Fosters Food Fair has the shopping bags available again. Just ask the cashier at the counter when you are checking out. They are $0.99 cents per bag and can be reused as often as you can. This helps with adding more of the plastic ones to our landfill. Otherwise go online to www.target.com where you can find plastic lined ones for the frozen items. Yes, it's lined with plastic but it is reuseable. Do your part to take care of our environment. Thank you for making the switch

Littering Signs are badly needed.

Do you know that you can make a citizen's arrest if you see someone littering our roadways. The law is in place for littering although the littering signs have never been replaced since Hurricane Ivan. The fine is CI$500.00. Please advocate the Government to increase this fine to CI$5000 or at the very least CI$1000. The road signs are needed. If you or your business wish to sponsor these signs please let me know as I am having some signs designed and can put your names on it.

A New Government

Now that we have a new government I can only hope that the issue of Mt. Trashmore will be on their agendas for cleanup, along with a mandatory recycling program. The time is now not tomorrow to do something that is in the best interest of the country and the people. This is an eyesore, so it must be removed.
